Then-and-now: water marbling. I have to admit, I was clearly much better at water marbling when I first started. All of the time I spent practicing technical designs has really taken from my marbling game. You guys might see more marbling posts soon haha

I haven’t redone my own nails so I decided to put together a quick, low-quality tutorial to show you guys my process for character designs. This is my version of Maneki-neko that was based on a design by Nancymc. I like to work backwards a lot because I feel like it saves polish and allows it to dry quicker. I started with the basic shape of the cat, added the major details, cleaned edges, added minor details, filled the outside with blue and added topcoat. I could have taken more time on my lines but I was more focused on getting it finished since it’s just a practice nail. Anyways, hope this helps! ^__^

Thought it would be fun to do a little then-and-now series. That leopard print was literally one of my first attempts that fit more than four spots per nail— I felt so accomplished! I don’t think I even used topcoat back then and I can assure you that I had already peeled off the extra mess from the edges lol Crazy what time and some practice can change..

This is what I do when I have to chop my nails off— glitter and vertical stripes. I feel that short nails make my hands look childish and that means girly, candy colors so very appropriate. Also, these are matte because, well. I love matte finish on glitter.

I actually use a small brush to do framing. Like most other ladies here, I have a set of brushes considered ‘nail art’ brushes that come in different lengths and thickness. They are amazing to have if you’re getting more into detail but they definitely aren’t necessary. I used to use toothpicks or safety pins to make any kind of line and they worked well with a little practice.. There are also cheap brushes at craft stores if you don’t want to spend a lot on a brush. Hope this helps :)

instead of buy those products i use almod oil:)

Very important edit! Using almond oil is smart and resourceful. If you do not wish to buy products with additives, any natural product that is generally good for the skin can be applied to the cuticles for more focused effects. Other products that are proven effective as topical skin repair/moisturizers include: olive oil, coconut oil, aloe vera, vitamin e, etc

Hello!

I use Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream most often on my own nails. Normally, I put it on after showers or at school after I’ve washed my hands. It keeps my cuticles soft and smells great!

When I do other people’s nails or with more severe dryness, I’ve been using California Mango products- either oil or balm. It was a present so I don’t know if it is a well-known product. It definitely gives results, though. I’ve had torn cuticles that were better in half the time using the oil.

In general, I’ve heard good things about the Pro fx and Dead Sea products too.. Hope this helps :)
